The history of The Poodle Mix Network:

Back in the fall of 2002 we purchased a beautiful Cockapoo puppy for our family.  After following his progress from birth, we brought Bailey home at 8 weeks old, just about as prepared for him as we were for our three kids!  Unfortunately, after very little time, we noticed his aggressive nature towards our children.  And it only grew increasingly stronger!  We hung in there with him, trying everything under the sun to turn his behavior around through constant contact with the breeder, our Veterinarian, and a series of three different highly regarded trainers.  Finally, it became apparent that although he was a wonderful dog 95% of the time, we just couldn't live with the other 5%, not knowing when he would turn on one of our kids, or their friends.
It was eventually strongly suggested to us by our Veterinarian and also the last in the string of trainers that we should consider euthanizing the dog.  We simply COULDN'T do that.  We felt that although this dog was not properly suited to OUR home, he could very well both GET and GIVE much in a different living situation.  We refused to give up on him.
Before placing the dog in a shelter, we wanted to first give a try at having him privately adopted.  After Googling around, I came across a networking website that listed by State, people who were looking to for various "Poodle Mix Breed" dogs to adopt.  I contacted a woman on the list that seemed to fit our criteria.  Single woman with a lifelong experience with dogs.  Perfect.  Within minutes I heard back from her ... and the rest is history.  We met ... in a public park.  She fell in love with Bailey at first sight.  She came by that weekend to pick him up with all of his belongings.
This was six years ago.  We are still periodically in touch with her, and she is thrilled with Bailey!  We have been forever grateful that that website was available to us in our time of need ... it gave lot's of pleasure to a few people, and a little dog!
Much to my dismay, as I was recently trying to assist a friend who was looking to adopt a dog, I searched and searched for that same website again.  It seems to no longer exist.  Which is how the Poodle Mix Network came to be.  Out of my gratitude, I will carry on the legacy of the network that gave us such peace of mind, and helped find Bailey his new forever home.
I am also owner of the online pet supply store, Fetch Dog Supplies ... which hosts the Poodle Mix Network home page.  However, they are not affiliated.  The Poodle Mix Network accepts NO public funding.  It is a purely voluntary endeavor.  We do not ever house dogs, but give individuals the place to advertise the type of Poodle Mix dog that they are looking for, in an efficient, organized easy to find manner.  It enables those who are looking to rehouse their dog the ability to connect and network to find it a new home.  The Poodle Mix Network will also crosspost with rescue organizations and shelters holding dogs that match our/your listings.

Pam
